Description
The State of Oregon, through the Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS), is issuing a notice of a sole source purchase for an Ion Chromatography System. This system is required for the Oregon OSHA Laboratory to conduct testing of hexavalent chromium and assess employee exposure to permissible exposure limits (PELs). The agency requires equipment that is compatible with their existing Thermo Fisher Scientific instruments and software. Thermo Fisher Scientific is the sole authorized provider of all component parts, spare parts, software, technical support, software upgrades, and engineering resources necessary to maintain the Thermo Electron Inuvion Ion Chromatography System. This sole provider status is based on compatibility requirements, the need for proprietary Thermo Electron equipment, and the fact that only certified Thermo Fisher Scientific field service engineers can service the instrument. The estimated total value of the contract is $200,000.00, which includes an initial purchase cost of $110,000.00 and an additional estimated $90,000.00 for lifetime maintenance coverage after the five-year term.
