Description
The Department of Chemistry at the USAFAcademy is conducting market research to identify capable sources for a high-performance spectrofluorometer (fluorimeter) system. The current fluorimeter, over 20 years old, is experiencing failure of its excitation source, with replacement parts no longer available. A reliable, modern replacement is critical for sustaining upper-division course instruction for approximately 60 to 80 cadets per academic year. The system must be a commercial spectrofluorometer capable of multiple data collection modes including fluorescence, phosphorescence, chemiluminescence, and bioluminescence. Key technical specifications include a Xenon flashlamp-based excitation source, high sensitivity, a guaranteed signal-to-noise ratio, and versatile sample handling with temperature control. The system should be capable of reading microplates and solid samples, and must include a desktop PC with compatible software for instrument control. The vendor will be responsible for on-site installation and providing an introductory training session.
