Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a firm-fixed-price purchase order to Thermo Electron North America, LLC for essential annual preventive maintenance services for the Orbitrap Fusion Lumos mass spectrometer. This critical analytical instrument supports ongoing research across multiple laboratories within the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). Preventive maintenance performed by a factory-certified engineer is crucial to ensure the mass spectrometer remains in optimal operating condition, delivers reliable performance, and minimizes the risk of costly unplanned downtime. Delays in securing this service could significantly hinder experimental progress and negatively impact project timelines. This service is essential to support NIAAA's intramural scientific research efforts. This notice is a Special Notice of Intent to award a sole-source contract. However, any available small businesses that can demonstrate their ability to perform the requirement are invited to submit a written capability statement. A determination to compete this proposed award will be made solely at the Government's discretion.
