Description
The City of Newport News is soliciting bids for recurring vegetation maintenance and mowing at the approximately 79-acre Denbigh Landfill, a closed municipal solid waste landfill subject to post-closure care requirements. The scope includes mowing landfill-cap areas, trimming around infrastructure, monitoring and reporting woody vegetation, maintaining visibility of wells and drainage structures, and reporting erosion, settlement, or unusual site conditions. The contractor must provide all labor, supervision, equipment, fuel, and materials, with approximately three to five mowing cycles per year. Work requires low-ground-pressure equipment suitable for landfill cover systems and slopes up to 3H:1V, including remote-controlled or specialized slope-mowing equipment where necessary. Bidders must provide equipment specifications and a site-specific safety and operating plan addressing slope safety, wet-soil restrictions, cap and infrastructure protection, and emergency procedures. The contract has an initial one-year term with four additional one-year renewal options at the City's discretion.
