Description
The City of Newport News is seeking one or more qualified contractors to provide specialty service truck bodies for its Department of General Services on an as-needed basis. The scope includes custom design and fabrication for medium and large truck chassis; upfitting, configuration, and installation of dump bodies, utility bodies, stake bodies, dry vans, and other standard or customized body types; and provision and installation of replacement parts. Bodies will be mounted on City-provided chassis and must integrate hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems while meeting applicable safety, quality, SAE, OEM, and industry requirements. Anticipated configurations include mechanics service and lube bodies with cranes, 10-foot and 16-foot dump bodies, a 13-foot enclosed utility service body, a 16-foot stake body with hydraulic tool circuit, and 16- to 24-foot dry vans. The initial anticipated purchases include one preventive-maintenance and lube service body with crane, three tandem-axle snowplow-capable dump trucks, one single-axle dump truck, and one non-snow tandem dump truck, with additional purchases estimated at approximately five truck bodies per year during the contract term, subject to funding and actual need. The initial contract period is one year from award, with four additional one-year renewal options. Proposals must include technical and pricing information, product literature or photographs, complete technical specifications, similar-project experience, references, and required vendor questionnaire responses.
