The Alaska Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services, is requesting public input to inform a potential future federally funded grant program supporting supervised and supported family contact for families involved with child welfare services, transportation to and from family visits, or both. Potential services may include observation and documentation, evening and weekend availability, visits in offices and community locations, scheduling and coordination, and safe round-trip transportation for youth. OCS is seeking feedback on service design, provider and driver qualifications, background checks, vehicle and car-seat standards, insurance, safety protocols, accessibility and cultural considerations, coordination and confidentiality, documentation and reporting, provider capacity, grant application requirements, evaluation criteria, and reimbursement rates. This is an RFI for public comment only; it is not a solicitation, will not result in an award, and may inform a future Request for Proposal.
