Description
The City of Phoenix is soliciting a contractor to decommission transit vehicles before public auction. Work includes picking up buses and cutaway vans from designated City facilities; removing exterior and interior identifying decals, roof numbers, window screens, and films; sanding and preparing vehicle surfaces; repainting sanded areas white to eliminate City and transit-system identification; removing overspray; performing approved minor body work; and delivering completed vehicles to the City-designated auction site. The estimated quantities are 180 forty-foot buses, 75 twenty-foot cutaways, and 7 twenty-four-foot cutaways during the initial contract period, with potential future work involving sixty-foot buses. The contractor must operate a commercial facility capable of accommodating the specified vehicle sizes, including a paint booth large enough for a sixty-foot bus, and must provide labor, equipment, supervision, applicable permits, and regulatory compliance. The agreement is for five years with one two-year option, and services will be ordered on an as-needed basis. The solicitation requires electronic submission through the City's procurement portal, including pricing, references, certifications, and required signed forms.
