Description
The City of Waco is soliciting bids from contractors that pass a mandatory prequalification process for construction of a new 5.0-million-gallon AWWA D110 Type III concrete ground storage tank. The work includes furnishing labor, materials, equipment, appurtenances, and incidentals; constructing, inspecting, and testing the tank; installing associated water piping, valves, fittings, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and related site improvements; and repairing the existing 5.0-million-gallon ground storage tank. Approved pipe alternatives include AWWA C303, AWWA C151, and AWWA C900 at specified locations; steel tank alternatives are not accepted. Prequalification requires documented experience with comparable concrete tanks and large-diameter waterlines, qualified project personnel, bonding capacity, safety history, and required forms and attachments. Bids are awarded to the lowest responsible bidder based on the base bid and any selected alternatives. The estimated project cost is $16.9 million, and liquidated damages are $3,000 per day before substantial completion and $1,000 per day thereafter. The work is scheduled for substantial completion and in-service within 450 calendar days and final completion within 510 calendar days; certain awarded alternates add 30 days to substantial completion.
