Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs is conducting market research for commercial removal, transportation, treatment, and final disposal of liquid and solid uniform radioactive low-level waste, including sealed sources, patient-treatment waste, scintillation vials, and radioactive mixed hazardous waste. The contractor would provide required packaging, radioactive measurements, labeling, placarding, manifests, transportation, receipt notifications, and final disposal certificates. Qualified contractors must maintain an active Nuclear Regulatory Commission or Agreement State radioactive materials license, Department of Transportation registration for hazardous-material transportation, applicable permits, and personnel trained to handle, package, and ship Class 7 radioactive materials. The draft requirement anticipates at least one and no more than two pickups per contract period, with service at two healthcare facilities and on-site response within three hours of the scheduled service time. This is a Sources Sought notice, not a request for quotation; respondents must submit a capabilities statement, company and contact information, socioeconomic status, SAM UEI, GSA contract number, and confirmation of intent to submit a future offer if requested.
