Appalachian State University is soliciting a contractor to provide annual NFPA 25 inspections of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems and fire pumps; semiannual inspections of clean-agent, kitchen-extinguishing, and dry-chemical systems; annual NFPA 72 inspections of fire-alarm systems and components; annual inspection, maintenance, repair, replacement, recharging, and overstock services for approximately 2,700 portable fire extinguishers; and emergency-exit and lighting inspections, maintenance, and repairs. The contractor must provide timely inspection and deficiency reports, repair quotes, and repairs as necessary, with inspections scheduled between May 15 and August 15. Technicians must be trained and certified under NICET and NFPA requirements, and certification documentation must accompany the proposal. The proposer must demonstrate at least ten years of experience inspecting and testing systems in a university or similar setting, provide at least three references for similar-size and similar-scope services, and maintain an office within 120 miles of Appalachian State University. The contract has an initial one-year term beginning upon final execution, with up to two additional one-year renewal terms.
