Description
The United States Department of Defense, through Washington Headquarters Services, is conducting a request for information—not a solicitation or offer—for examples, feedback, and recommendations concerning effective domestic K-12 and postsecondary STEM talent development. Responses should address programs and models for identifying, accelerating, and enriching high-ability and high-potential students, including students from rural, military-connected, and economically disadvantaged communities. Respondents may discuss screening and identification methods, advanced coursework, competitions, specialized curricula, summer or other enrichment programs, and metrics of success. The RFI also seeks information about partnerships among schools, higher education institutions, industry, national laboratories, government agencies, and community organizations; operational requirements and costs; scalability constraints; and relevant current or prior programs. Responses must be organized around the six listed questions, include specific examples of successful programs or resources, and provide organizational and point-of-contact information. Responses are limited to six pages, must be single-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman, and must be submitted as an unclassified PDF or Microsoft Word file. This RFI does not create a binding contract, and respondents will not be reimbursed for preparation costs.
