Description
The City of Covington is soliciting sealed proposals from qualified contractors for a one-time floodplain restoration and improvement project. The work includes excavating, loading, hauling, and delivering approximately 4,200 cubic yards of sediment; final grading and shaping; erosion and sediment control; seeding, mulching, and stabilization; mobilization and demobilization; riprap placement; and related traffic control, dewatering, site protection, surveys, documentation, and incidental work. Excavated material must be delivered to the Newton County Solid Waste Management Authority facility at 205 Lower River Road, Covington, Georgia 30016. The facility will perform spreading and grading at no disposal fee; contractor disposal-site placement and grading is a separate conditional item payable only when authorized in writing by the City. The proposal includes a 15% contingency allowance and requires a 5% bid bond. The successful contractor must provide 100% payment and performance bonds. The contractor must perform at least 75% of the total contract value with its own forces. Evaluation is based on qualifications and experience, proposed approach and technical capability, and cost; at least three similar projects completed within the past five years are considered. The work must be completed within 90 calendar days after issuance of the Notice to Proceed.
