Description
The City of Ames is soliciting a vendor to lease or rent one or two all-wheel-drive wheel loaders for use by its Fleet Services Department in snow and ice removal, blowing, plowing, and loading. The machines must be comparable in size, power, and function to specified models, be new, used, or demonstration units no more than five years old, and include a bucket with a JRB 416-compatible quick-attach system. Required or specified features include two hydraulic tool circuits, an enclosed cab with heating and defrosting equipment, snow-tread radial tires with at least 75% tread remaining, a spare wheel and tire, block and fuel-tank heaters, and compatibility with biodiesel blends up to B20. The rental periods are five months for loader 1568L, from November 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027, and four months for loader 1569L, from December 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027, with an optional one-month extension for loader 1569L. Vendors must provide monthly, hourly, or seasonal pricing options, fuel and DEF replenishment rates, and delivery and pickup transport charges. The vendor is responsible for promptly repairing or replacing machines when necessary, while the City is responsible for specified routine maintenance and damage-related costs. A completed specifications and fillable bid form, including proposed machine details and a color photograph of each offered unit, must be submitted through the procurement portal.
