Description

This public improvement contract covers the rehabilitation of nine existing bar rakes and bar screens at a wastewater treatment plant. The contractor must furnish labor, equipment, materials, and services to dewater and clean the bar rake pits, remove debris, disassemble and refurbish each bar rake, and replace failed or worn components including pin racks, guide rollers, cog wheels, rake carriages, motors, rake blades, wiper assemblies, and related electrical components. Replacement parts must be sourced directly from the original equipment manufacturer, WSG & Solutions, Inc., and all work must meet the requirements for the facility’s NEC Class 1, Division 1, Group D area. The scope includes confined-space entry, hazardous-atmosphere monitoring, lockout/tagout coordination, continuous dewatering, debris removal, OEM coordination before refurbishment, and OEM inspection and certification after each bar rake refurbishment. Work must be sequenced across four groups of bar screens, with maximum durations of 30, 45, 45, and 15 calendar days, respectively, and each completed group must be inspected and approved before the next group begins. The estimated probable construction cost is $1,800,000, with allowances for general work, concrete or grout repair, pin rack and component repairs, OEM inspections, and damaged bar screen repairs. Prevailing wages, bid/performance/payment bonding, safety planning, project scheduling, submittals, testing, operation and maintenance documentation, and closeout records are required.
