Description
The City of Cedar Rapids is soliciting bids for the purchase and installation of approximately 612 trees at designated street rights-of-way during the Fall 2026 planting season. The contractor must furnish all labor, materials, equipment, mulch, irrigation bags, staking materials, watering, mapping, cleanup, permits, and related services. The bid includes numerous specified deciduous tree species and a separate line item for supplying and installing 366 heavy-duty plastic deer guards. Planting must occur between October 7 and November 15, 2026, followed by a two-year maintenance and warranty period. Responsibilities include regular watering, mulching, maintaining tree health and upright condition, replacing failed trees, removing stakes and irrigation bags when required, and documenting planting and maintenance activities. Bidders must submit proof of Midwest nursery stock grown in USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6a or colder and either proof of an ISA-Certified Arborist overseeing the work or documentation that at least 50% of core business operations is dedicated to tree planting. The solicitation also requires insurance documentation and a completed insurance-availability certification.
