Description
The City of Cedar Rapids is soliciting bids for a major public improvement project consisting of demolition of the existing bridge and construction of a new cable-stayed bridge crossing the Cedar River. The project includes integral flood control components, approach roadways, traffic improvements, sidewalks and trail reconstruction, utility reconstruction, lighting, stormwater and sanitary sewer work, water-main work, retaining walls, temporary traffic control, landscaping, erosion control, and related structural, electrical, and site improvements. The engineer's opinion of probable cost is $123,000,000. The early start date is upon issuance of a notice to proceed, anticipated in January or February 2027, and final completion is required within 1,250 calendar days. Bidders must submit a bid bond, complete the Bidder Status Form and associated authorization information, acknowledge addenda, and enter unit prices through the City's IonWave website. The opportunity is listed as a request for bid, with submissions due by 11:00 a.m. Central Time on November 4, 2026.
