The Imperial County Air Pollution Control District is accepting applications for grant-funded urban greening and vegetative barrier projects intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and exposure to particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen. Eligible projects may create or expand green spaces through tree planting, grass planting, or vegetative barriers, together with associated irrigation systems; routine maintenance and rehabilitation projects are ineligible. Applicants must provide a project summary, site plan, current-condition photographs, cost estimate, emissions-reduction and co-benefit calculations, plant species and quantities, green-space area, irrigation details, implementation timeline, parcel ownership information, and other information specified in the application. The application must include the completed Urban Greening Project Proposal Application, a completed California Natural Resources Agency Urban Greening Benefits Calculator, a CARB Regulatory Compliance Statement, a Disclosure Statement, and the listed supporting materials. Awardees must maintain the green space and make it available for inspection for 10 years, with annual maintenance documentation and completion photographs.
