Description
The University of Louisville is soliciting a lump-sum bid for the replacement of the exhaust air energy recovery unit located in Mechanical Room 104 of the Comparative Medicine Research Unit in Building 57. The scope includes mechanical, HVAC controls, and electrical work, including demolition and removal of the existing unit and associated components; installation of a new site-assembled custom energy recovery unit, filter and plenum sections, exhaust ductwork, controls, variable-frequency drives, electrical connections, and a fan coil unit; and reconnection and commissioning of the existing glycol energy-recovery system. The contractor must provide a project schedule, itemized labor and material pricing, required equipment and materials information, subcontractor information, qualifications, project-manager and superintendent resumes, and five recent relevant project references. The work is in an occupied, continuously operating critical facility and must be phased to minimize disruption, with the primary equipment replacement completed within a four-week shutdown window. Testing and balancing, startup, commissioning, closeout documents, a minimum one-year labor and parts warranty, a 5% bid bond, 100% performance and payment bonds, and required insurance are included in the solicitation requirements. Addendum 1 clarifies that the base rail must be 8 inches, the unit must have access doors on both sides of the coil and fan sections, and the AHU manufacturer provides the motor overload panel and lights. It also requires acknowledgment of the addendum by the bid deadline.
