Description
Suffolk County is seeking qualified legal counsel for its self-funded, self-administered workers’ compensation program. Services include representation at Workers’ Compensation Board hearings and proceedings; preparation of arguments, appeals, claims forms, subpoenas, and settlement documents; management of medical and lay testimony; depositions; claim-resolution strategy; advice and consultation; and coordination with County personnel. The contractor must provide attorneys who are employees of the firm and members in good standing of the New York State Bar. Additional responsibilities include hearing and claim reporting, monthly claim-status reports, bi-monthly claim reviews, quarterly workers’ compensation seminars, legal updates, day-to-day coordination, and timely submission of hearing-related reports and awards. The proposal must include organizational and personnel qualifications, financial information, client history and references, conflict disclosures, technical approach, subcontractor information if applicable, and a separate cost proposal with annual fees for 2027 through 2032. The anticipated initial term is January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2029, with three one-year renewal options.
