Description
The Town of Bridgton is requesting proposals from qualified law firms or attorneys to serve as its primary municipal legal counsel. The scope includes advising the Town Manager, Select Board or Council, departments, boards, and committees; drafting and reviewing ordinances, policies, procedures, contracts, agreements, and requests for proposals; and providing guidance on state and federal legal compliance, procurement, taxation, municipal finance, public records, ethics, and conflicts of interest. Additional services include land use and regulatory advice, labor and employment matters, collective bargaining support, litigation and administrative-hearing representation, claims and dispute resolution, risk management, settlement strategy, and special projects. Proposers must be licensed to practice law in Maine and demonstrate municipal-law experience. Proposals must address firm qualifications, municipal experience, service approach, availability and response times, fee structure, at least three municipal references, and conflicts of interest. The anticipated contract term is three years, with possible renewals by mutual agreement.
