Description
The County of Sacramento is soliciting bids for quarterly landfill gas well installation services at the Kiefer Landfill. The project involves the construction of new vertical landfill gas extraction wells and associated piping, with an option for horizontal collectors. This work is necessary to meet environmental regulations due to ongoing landfill expansion. The scope of work is anticipated to be conducted over two years, with one mobilization per quarter. Each quarterly mobilization will include decommissioning existing wells, installing new vertical extraction wells (both 100ft and 160ft depths), installing associated piping (3" HDPE laterals and 8" HDPE headers), and installing gate valves and road crossings. An option is included for the construction of horizontal collectors in lieu of vertical wells, which would involve trench excavation, aggregate, geotextile fabric, perforated pipe, solid pipe, and trench terminations. The Kiefer Landfill has been in operation since 1967, and approximately 350 wells are currently in use. The project aims to facilitate the rapid development of new wells and the decommissioning or replacement of underperforming wells, with an average of 8 wells installed and 10 wells decommissioned per quarter.
