Description
The Bureau of Justice Assistance is soliciting applications for the FY 2026 Smart Reentry Demonstration Program. The grant supports eligible state, county, city or township, special district, and federally or non-federally recognized tribal governments in implementing comprehensive, collaborative reentry strategies for adults returning to communities from correctional facilities and establishing or expanding interventions intended to reduce recidivism. Applicants must propose a target population, coordinated reentry program, evaluation approach, and long-term sustainability strategy. Expected deliverables include a comprehensive strategic plan, an intervention plan, a final evaluation report, and performance reporting on recidivism outcomes. The program requires a 50% cost share, although a fiscal-hardship waiver may be requested. Awards may be up to $1,100,000 for a 36-month period beginning October 1, 2026.
