Description
The City of Waukee is seeking an artist or artist team to develop, fabricate, transport, and install permanent public artwork at Spring Crest Park. The artwork should be playful, engaging, colorful, durable, low-maintenance, safe for children and adults to interact with, appropriate to the park’s character, visible in all seasons, and installed on the identified pedestal within a 4,000 PSI weight restriction. The preliminary project budget is $50,000 and includes design fees, travel, materials, fabrication, documentation, transportation, subcontractors, shipping, installation, maintenance, and honorariums. Eligible artists or teams must have completed two commissioned outdoor public artworks valued at least $25,000 each and must demonstrate understanding of the Waukee community and project criteria. The selected artist will develop, fabricate, and install the artwork; three finalists will receive a $500 stipend to refine their proposals. Submissions must include contact information, a one-page letter of interest and design approach, biographical information or resumes, three references for similar projects, three to five recent work samples, and a one-page work-sample list with descriptions and budgets. Materials must be submitted digitally in a single PDF, with JPEG work samples permitted as separate files.
