Description
The U.S. General Services Administration’s Art in Architecture Program is seeking American artists—U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or permanent workers—to create a publicly scaled, permanently installed artwork for the new Coburn Gore Land Port of Entry. The opportunity is open to all materials and mediums, and one or more artists may receive a fixed-price commission contract. The estimated art budget is $275,000 to $400,000, although the actual budget is not being disclosed. Initial submissions will be evaluated primarily on the artist’s existing portfolio and past work, including media, materials, content, style, past performance, and experience with similar commissions. A specific concept is not required initially; the selected artist will develop the concept after award and a site visit. The eventual scope includes collaboration with the lead designer, travel, concept development and presentation, fabrication, meetings and conservation reviews as needed, delivery and installation, professional documentation, and maintenance planning. An authorized agent or company may submit materials on an artist’s behalf. Selected artists must maintain active SAM registration and be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
