Description
The City of Des Moines is soliciting bids for the removal and replacement of extensive signage throughout the downtown skywalk system. The work includes demolition and disposal of existing ceiling-mounted, wall-mounted, kiosk, directional, access, bridge, graphic, elevator, and related signage; removal or abandonment of associated electrical wiring; patching and restoration of ceiling and wall finishes; and installation of new static directional, wayfinding, access, destination, graphic, QR-code, and bridge signage. The replacement system includes aluminum composite signs, digitally printed and frosted or optically clear vinyl graphics, tactile text and symbols, Type II braille, matte graffiti-resistant finishes, illuminated entrance graphics, and concealed mounting hardware. The contractor must verify field measurements and locations, provide shop drawings and required material/color samples, coordinate work in occupied skywalk areas, comply with demolition, electrical, safety, and applicable SUDAS requirements, and acknowledge that at least 10% of the work must be performed by the contractor's own organization and forces under the amended subcontracting provision.
