Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Nashville District, is soliciting bids for a firm-fixed-price construction contract to clean, prep, and paint the spillway machinery at all twelve gates of Barkley Dam. The project requires the removal of all non-adhered coatings, repair of existing corrosion, and restoration of the final surface to a like-new condition. Work must adhere to SSPC-SP-3 for surface preparation, utilizing power-shrouded tools with vacuum collection for lead containment and disposal. Where SSPC-SP-3 is not feasible, SSPC-SP-1 and the prescribed coating system must be used. Key work restrictions include: no disassembly of active machinery components (motors, gearboxes, bearings), removal of machinery covers and guards as needed, utilization of the project's intake gantry crane and spillway maintenance platform, a limit of three gates out of service at any time, coordination with project staff for bulkhead placement to access machinery, and ensuring continuous Corps access to the intake crane for maintenance and emergencies. The anticipated period of performance is approximately 450 calendar days from the notice to proceed. The estimated project magnitude is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.
