Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration is soliciting a firm-fixed-price construction contractor to correct facility-condition-assessment deficiencies at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. The base bid covers general construction throughout the cemetery, including work at the entrance, flagpoles, retention pond, maintenance-yard facilities, spoils area, roads, utilities, buildings, accessibility features, landscaping, irrigation, security, fire alarm, telecommunications, hazardous-material abatement, and temporary office and restroom facilities. The contractor must provide management, supervision, labor, materials, equipment, permits, site protection, erosion control, cleanup, and coordination with cemetery operations. Three bid alternates are included: historic cemetery wall restoration involving cleaning, capstone repair or replacement, masonry repointing, and historic gate and metalwork conservation; demolition and construction of an approximately 1,200-square-foot, three-bay covered materials storage building; and replacement of the Section C-C identification layer, including removal of topsoil, fill, and hardened layer, exposure and inspection of crypt lids, new backfill and identification materials, topsoil, turf, and irrigation. The project includes asbestos and lead-related work, Davis-Bacon requirements, and a 360-calendar-day performance period after notice to proceed.
