Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking appropriately accredited microbiological laboratory contractors to perform environmental and personnel sampling services for the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System (VANEOHS) and the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. This service is crucial for ensuring compliance with U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) General Chapters <797> and <800>, which are integral to maintaining patient safety and a controlled environment within sterile compounding spaces. The contractor will be responsible for supplying necessary testing materials and equipment, including microbial growth media plates, competency kits, air samplers, and media fill materials. They will also perform sample incubation and analysis, including surface, gloved fingertip, viable air, and media fill sample analysis, adhering to USP standards. Final reports detailing the results, compliance status, and organism identification (when necessary) must be delivered electronically and via an online portal within 72 hours of incubation completion. Preliminary failing results must be reported as soon as identified. The contractor must be accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) as an environmental microbiology laboratory and maintain ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
