DeSoto County is soliciting qualifications from Florida-registered professional engineering firms for the design and permitting of two independently documented sidewalk projects: SE Maple Drive from N. Hillsborough Avenue to SE West Avenue, and SW Kingsway Circle from East Egret Circle to CR 769. The scope includes topographic and right-of-way surveying, geotechnical investigation, ADA-compliant sidewalks and crosswalks, driveway turnouts, signing and pavement markings, drainage evaluation and modifications, roadside safety improvements, maintenance-of-traffic plans, utility coordination, environmental and stormwater permitting, technical specifications, engineer’s estimates, and FDOT environmental certification as required for Local Agency Program projects. Surveying and geotechnical work may be performed by qualified subcontractors. The selected firm must provide separate plan sets, specifications, estimates, geotechnical reports, invoices, and other documents for each project; respond to County and FDOT review comments; and attend a kickoff/field visit and progress meetings at the 30%, 60%, and 90% design stages. Deliverables include 30%, 60%, 90%, 100% draft, and final submissions. Final deliverables must include signed and sealed PDFs, AutoCAD files in 2020 or newer format, eight original hard copies, and all required permits. The anticipated combined design cost is $185,000, with anticipated construction costs totaling $1,305,000.
