Description
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is soliciting one contractor to remove and replace fencing, install gates, clear vegetation within a 50-foot right-of-way, and install fire lines at Okaloacoochee Slough Wildlife Management Area. The addendum confirms that the barbed-wire fence will have four strands of Class III high-tensile 15.5-gauge wire, the smooth-wire fence will have three strands of Class III high-tensile 12.5-gauge barbless wire, and only wooden posts may be used outside wetland soils. Wetland areas are expected to comprise approximately 10–15% of the fence installation, and the contractor must provide equipment that minimizes ground disturbance. The project will be awarded to one company, with an estimated total budget of $520,000, or approximately $130,000 per year, over an initial four-year term. Work must begin within 30 days after purchase-order issuance, subject to coordination with wildlife-management activities and pauses during designated quota-hunt days. The contractor must perform all services itself; renting equipment with an operator, hiring land-clearing or forestry-mulching firms, and using hauling firms are all treated as subcontracting and are prohibited. Quantities may vary with annual budgets, while bid prices remain unchanged. The addendum also clarifies that the fence line will generally follow approximately 20 feet from the innermost canal or ditch bank, that all trees within the 16-foot fire line must be removed, and that the project may be extended by up to six months at the project manager’s discretion in qualifying circumstances.
