Description
The City of Tacoma is soliciting bids from one qualified contractor to provide on-call ecological services through task authorizations. The work includes ecological restoration and establishment activities at City-owned open spaces, wetlands, critical areas, mitigation sites, and capital improvement project sites. Work categories include native tree and plant installation or replacement, temporary and permanent seeding, topsoil and compost placement, arborist wood-chip mulching, pruning and brushing, unwanted-weed removal and pesticide treatment, plant-establishment watering and temporary irrigation, construction stormwater pollution-prevention best management practices, exclusion fencing and plant protection, trail maintenance, and litter and garbage removal. The contractor must furnish required labor, materials, tools, equipment, permits, and supplies. The contract has an estimated total value of $250,000 over an initial two-year period, with three optional one-year renewals. Work will be performed on an as-needed basis, with no guaranteed minimum, and paid by task authorization using labor, materials, equipment, miscellaneous-expense, and subcontracted-work markups. Minimum qualifications include a current Washington Department of Agriculture pesticide license, an aquatic endorsement when applicable, and at least five similar projects completed within the past five years; the contractor must have self-performed at least 75 percent of each cited project. Payment and performance bonds equal to 25 percent of the $250,000 contract total are required from the successful bidder. The bid will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
