Description
The City of Columbia, Illinois, is soliciting proposals from qualified and experienced farmers to lease and farm three groups of City-owned agricultural parcels totaling approximately 92.27 tillable acres. The selected farmer will provide all labor, equipment, seed, fertilizer, chemicals, fuel, and other inputs required for planting, cultivation, and harvesting, while maintaining the property in a safe and orderly condition and complying with applicable laws, soil-conservation requirements, and generally accepted agricultural practices. The farmer must also cooperate with the City's seasonal leaf-collection program and incorporate mulched leaf debris into the soil at agronomic application rates. Group A includes responsibility for an existing USDA Conservation Reserve Program contract. Proposers may bid on individual groups, combinations of groups, or all Farm Property. The anticipated lease term is three years beginning on or about March 1, 2027, subject to City Council approval; proposals must state a rental rate in dollars per tillable acre per year and include farming experience, a proposed crop plan and practices, and proof of required insurance.
