Description
The State of Maine Department of Public Safety, through the Justice Assistance Council, is soliciting applications for projects funded by the STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grant Program. Eligible projects must support one or more federal purpose areas and Maine priority areas addressing violent crimes against women, including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Allowable activities may include personnel, training, technical assistance, data collection, equipment, law-enforcement and prosecution strategies, and victim services. Funds may not be used for construction, real property, office furniture, lobbying, fundraising, research projects, public-awareness campaigns, school curriculum development, or activities that compromise victim safety. Approximately $270,642 is available for multiple awards: $194,642 for law enforcement and $76,000 for culturally specific or community-based victim services organizations. Awards may support up to 67% of total project costs, generally requiring a 33% cash or in-kind match, subject to stated statutory exceptions and waiver provisions. Applications must include the required application form, Certification of Out-of-Scope Activities Form, and Consultation/Collaboration Agreement Form when applicable, and must follow the prescribed application outline and submission requirements.
