Description
The City of Ellsworth is soliciting proposals from qualified historic preservation contractors, architectural conservators, conservation firms, and appropriately qualified teams for the first phase of work on its approximately 91-year-old, hand-carved wooden City Hall Seal pediment. The relief is approximately 18 feet wide and positioned about 30 feet above the ground. The initial scope includes safely removing and documenting the Seal, stabilizing it, transporting it to an appropriate facility, allowing it to dry in a controlled environment, and completing a professional condition assessment. The assessment will inform a later determination regarding conservation and restoration work. A pre-bid inspection will allow potential bidders to examine the Seal using a City-provided aerial platform lift.
