Description
The St. Johns River Water Management District is soliciting sealed bids for a per-ton timber sale involving approximately 173.3 acres of mature longleaf pine stands established in 2004. The work requires logger-select thinning, including removal of every third row for access and selective thinning of remaining rows to achieve an average density of 150 trees per acre or a basal area of 50 to 60 square feet per acre. The estimated harvest is approximately 3,726 tons of pine pulpwood and better, with no guarantee of the actual volume. The successful respondent must provide a certified logging crew supervisor, comply with specified forestry and environmental practices, and furnish required insurance before beginning the harvest. The solicitation requires a 20% advance payment of estimated timber-sale value and a $5,000 security deposit before agreement execution. The agreement has a 12-month term, subject to stated extensions, and award is based on the highest responsive and responsible total bid.
