Description
The Department of War (DoW) is seeking to identify and establish domestic alternative materials for electro-optic (EO) and infrared (IR) video imaging sensors. Current EO/IR systems heavily rely on materials such as germanium and gallium, which are subject to increasingly stringent export regulations from China, impacting their availability and cost in the United States. This solicitation aims to find domestic alternatives to mitigate these supply chain risks for critical materials used in SWIR, MWIR, and LWIR spectral bands. This effort is crucial for maintaining the operational readiness and technological independence of the DoW's surveillance, situational awareness, and targeting systems that utilize these advanced optical components.
