Description
The F-16 System Program Office (SPO) requires an estimated 250 rail sets, totaling 500 tanks, to enhance the F-16 aircraft's unrefueled range. These 600-gallon external fuel tanks are intended for wing stations four and six, aiming to increase the aircraft's fuel capacity for employing modern munitions at extended ranges and achieving modernized tactical ferry range objectives. The requirement includes tanks, pylons, aircraft installation hardware, initial spares, technical orders, and specialized support equipment. The procured assembly must increase range and loiter time while minimizing integration risks. Key functional characteristics include a minimum 600-gallon usable fuel capacity, compatibility with existing ground support and fuel tank loading equipment, and the ability to be loaded and structurally supported on F-16 wing stations 4 and 6 (specifically targeting Post-Block 40/42/50/52 configurations). The assembly must also integrate seamlessly with the F-16 Stores Management System for safe jettison and operate across the full spectrum of operational mission profiles.
