Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs requires a contractor to correct domestic water system deficiencies in Buildings 1 and 12 at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center. The work includes demolition and modification of existing hot- and cold-potable-water distribution systems; dead-leg removal; automatic flushing faucets; temperature and pressure sensors; check valves; flow meters; mixing valves; water-monitoring panels; point-of-use or submicron Legionella filtration; insulation; valve replacement; electrical connections, panels, conduits, and wiring; and related general construction, asbestos abatement, finishes, firestopping, and seismic restraints. The contractor must provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, field verification, testing, commissioning, training, pre-commissioning documentation, operation and maintenance manuals, as-built drawings, and a one-year construction warranty. The project is in an active medical facility and requires phased work, infection-control and pre-construction risk assessments, potable-water flushing twice weekly during applicable periods, security and badging compliance, safety planning, and coordination to maintain hospital operations. The solicitation uses a firm-fixed-price, best-value tradeoff approach and includes a 275-calendar-day performance period after notice to proceed, with deduct alternates for specified sensor and Building 12 work.
