Description
The City of Indianapolis and Marion County, through its Purchasing Division and primarily for the Marion County Sheriff's Office, is soliciting bids for interstate transportation of inmates from and to locations designated by the Sheriff's Office. Services include custody transfer, secure transportation, inmate searches and restraints, meals and rest stops, property handling, medical and special-needs transportation, emergency notifications, and delivery to designated correctional facilities. Vendors must support transportation across all security levels, including juveniles, mentally ill patients, specialty medical transports, flex transports, and air transports when required. Minimum qualifications include at least three years of extradition and inmate-transportation experience; licensing to operate in all 50 states; 24-hour, year-round transportation and communications capability; suitable, insured, maintained vehicles; trained and properly licensed transportation personnel; and U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration authority to operate as an interstate contract carrier. The solicitation requests unit and trip pricing for multiple transport categories, including adult, juvenile, medical, mentally ill, special-request, custom, and limited-service-area transports.
