Description
The City of Amsterdam is soliciting bids for as-needed hauling and disposal of wastewater sludge cake generated at its wastewater treatment plant. The selected contractor must provide suitable open-top trailers with covers, pick up loaded trailers according to the City's schedule, transport the sludge to an approved facility, prepare bills of lading for each load, and provide copies to the treatment plant on the day of transport. The facility generates approximately 5,000 wet tons of sludge annually; grit and screenings are excluded from the scope. The contractor must comply with applicable federal and New York State sludge-disposal regulations and submit all required hauling and disposal-facility permits with the bid. Awarded work requires specified general liability, auto, contractual, umbrella, pollution liability, and workers' compensation insurance before performance begins. The initial term is one year beginning November 1, 2026, with up to two additional one-year renewals at the City's option or by mutual agreement, for a maximum total term of 36 months. Pricing is requested for each pickup and per ton of sludge disposal, with a fuel-price adjustment provision.
