Description
The Town of Sand Lake is soliciting sealed bids for the Thais Road Bridge Replacement project over Wynants Kill (BIN 2201980) in Sand Lake, Rensselaer County, New York. The project scope includes the replacement of the bridge with precast concrete adjacent slabs and cast-in-place concrete abutments and wingwalls, with medium stone fill placed in the vicinity. It also involves replacing the steel bridge rail with a four-rail box beam bridge rail, full-depth pavement reconstruction on Thais Road, and a mill and overlay of Springer Road. Traffic will be maintained on the existing roadway during construction, and the existing bridge will be removed upon completion of the new structure. This is a Locally Administered Federal Aid Project, requiring adherence to NYSDOT Standard Specifications. The project has a DBE goal of 0%, an EEO Minority Employment Goal of 3.2%, and an EEO Women Employment Goal of 6.9%. Bidders must be registered with the NYS Department of Labor and use the Equitable Business Opportunities (EBO) software for civil rights reporting. Contract documents can be examined at the Town of Sand Lake Dept. of Public Works, the Town of Sand Lake Town Hall, or Azar Design Co. They are also available electronically by contacting the Project Engineer. Bids must be received by 11:00 AM local time on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Town of Sand Lake Town Hall, 8428 NY-66, Averill Park, New York 12018. Bids must include a bid security of not less than five percent (5%) of the bid amount. The successful bidder will be required to furnish Performance, Payment, and Guarantee Bonds for 100% of the accepted bid and comply with Federal Government Equal Employment Opportunity clauses and prevailing wage rates. The work is expected to begin no later than ten calendar days from Notice to Proceed and be completed by December 31, 2026.
