The Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission is soliciting bids for invasive plant eradication services. The scope of work includes chemically and mechanically treating invasive plants on up to 260 acres. Treatment methods will involve foliar and cut stump applications, requiring handheld herbicide application and the use of power tools such as brush saws. The project is divided into several treatment areas. Approximately 110 acres will undergo Low Volume Foliar (LVF) thinning of scrub oak and other invasive plants, with a target kill rate of 100% for invasives. Additionally, 1.5 acres of Japanese knotweed will be treated using LVF methods. For invasive trees, up to 145 acres will be mechanically felled and chemically treated using the cut stump method. Specific herbicides, application methods, and timing for each treatment type are detailed in the solicitation documents. Personnel performing these treatments must hold current New York State Certified Pesticide Applicator Licenses.
