Description
The University of Washington is seeking qualified contractors to provide comprehensive services for the rebuild of its TG-3 steam turbine, located at the University of Washington Power Plant in Seattle, Washington. This includes maintenance, inspection, repair support, reassembly, alignment, and startup support following a forced outage. The scope of work involves a detailed inspection of the turbine and its surroundings, condition checks of existing and new parts, installation of new components (including rotor, bearings, gearbox, and hardware), and precise measurements for clearances and alignment. Contractors will be responsible for providing all necessary labor, supervision, tools, equipment, and materials, unless explicitly identified as a University-furnished item. Key tasks include verifying bearing clearances, gearbox backlash, tension stud preload, and performing alignment measurements. Safety, Foreign Material Exclusion (FME), and adherence to quality standards are paramount. Optional services such as high-speed rotor balancing, detailed inspection of components, and transportation to/from a shop may also be required. The project timeline requires substantial completion by August 31, 2026, with liquidated damages for delays. Bidders must demonstrate relevant experience with industrial steam turbines, particularly Howden models, and possess the necessary technical expertise and qualified personnel.
