Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting market research to identify qualified sources capable of providing recurring preventive maintenance services for NIST-owned Komar industrial waste shredding equipment. The equipment includes a Komar Auger Compactor, serial number 3376, and a Komar Electro Shear Shredder, serial number 3535. NIST anticipates establishing a five-year contract, beginning around October 1, 2026, which will include one 12-month base period and four 12-month option periods. Services are to be performed on-site at NIST's Gaithersburg, Maryland campus during regular business hours. The contractor will be expected to perform semi-annual preventive maintenance, inspect mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components, lubricate and calibrate moving parts, identify and recommend repairs for worn or damaged components, test equipment operation, and provide written service reports. Additionally, the contractor will be responsible for diagnosing malfunctions, recommending repairs, and providing quotations for any necessary repair work outside the scope of the preventive maintenance agreement. The contractor must also comply with NIST's safety and security requirements, including providing a site-specific safety plan, personal protective equipment, and ensuring all personnel have appropriate background investigations. NIST will provide physical access to the equipment and facility resources, while the contractor will provide all necessary tools, equipment, and materials. Contractor personnel should possess a minimum of three years of experience performing preventive maintenance on similar industrial equipment.
