Description
Ventura Unified School District is soliciting bids from a prequalified, licensed general contractor for comprehensive upgrades and site improvements at Ventura High School. The work includes demolition; grading and excavation; storm-drain replacement; accessible concrete ramps, stairs, retaining walls, handrails, and guardrails; bleacher modifications including ADA seating and widened access aisles; electrical revisions and utility coordination; fencing and gates; concrete and asphalt paving; lighting; signage; planting and irrigation; sports equipment; temporary facilities and controls; erosion and sediment control; and construction safety and security measures. The owner will separately procure and install the synthetic turf and track surfacing through a CMAS agreement, but the contractor must coordinate that work and provide supporting site preparation, permeable aggregate base, grading, drainage, nailer board, residual turf removal, surveys, testing, and access. Addendum 3 revises the bid opening to October 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time, adds revised electrical, landscape, and site-plan requirements, and requires bidders to acknowledge the addendum. The project manual identifies an engineer’s estimate of $9.3 million, excluding owner-provided surfacing work. The contract includes a $250,000 allowance for unforeseen conditions, requires 10 percent bid security, and requires separate payment and performance bonds equal to 100 percent of the contract amount.
