Description
The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) plans to conduct routine annual maintenance dredging at its berths in Montreal, Quebec, for the period from 2026 to 2030. This work involves the localized removal of sediment accumulations, identified through annual bathymetric surveys, to maintain necessary depths for navigation and consistency with nautical charts. The specific work areas will be identified annually and are expected to be limited and dispersed. The dredging will be performed using a dredging barge, with the dredged material being disposed of in open water. Each dredging campaign is scheduled to take place in the fall, lasting approximately 3 to 5 working days, and will be conducted continuously, day and night. Environmental monitoring and surveillance programs will be implemented during the work to ensure compliance with applicable requirements and the effectiveness of mitigation measures.
