Description
This project aims to construct a sidewalk along Vermont Route 14, establishing a safe and accessible pedestrian connection between the Upper and Lower Villages of East Montpelier. This initiative addresses a long-standing community priority to enhance public safety and connectivity. Currently, residents are forced to walk on the shoulder of a busy state highway, posing a significant safety risk, especially for those walking or biking to local businesses and amenities. The new sidewalk will provide a crucial link, ensuring safe travel for all residents, including children, seniors, and individuals with mobility challenges, between the two village centers. Consideration will also be given to incorporating a bike lane if space permits, or at minimum, ensuring a safe route for walking bicycles.
