Description
The Town of Boonton is hiring a full-time New Jersey-licensed Water Operator to serve as the system's Operator in Responsible Charge. The position covers operation, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and regulatory reporting for water treatment, groundwater treatment, water distribution, and wastewater collection infrastructure, including treatment plants, wells, storage tanks, mains, pumping stations, valves, hydrants, force mains, lift stations, and manholes. Responsibilities include chemical feed, filtration, disinfection using chlorine gas, sampling and laboratory testing, SCADA and telemetry monitoring, variable-frequency-drive and pump/motor control maintenance, operational recordkeeping, NJDEP and EPA compliance reporting, Consumer Confidence Report preparation, emergency response, and after-hours, weekend, holiday, and rotational on-call coverage. An active New Jersey T-4 Water Treatment license is required at application; W-2 Water Distribution and C-2 Collection System licenses are preferred. The position offers a municipal benefits package and a stated salary range of $120,000 to $150,000.
