Description
The City of Alexandria, through its Department of General Services, is soliciting licensed and qualified contractors to replace the roof at the Oswald Durant Center. The work includes demolition and disposal of existing roofing; installation of asphalt shingles and PVC roofing systems; roof drains, gutters, downspouts, flashing, and related sheet-metal work; brick masonry and through-wall flashing repairs; wood-trim repairs and painting; substrate and roof-deck repairs; debris removal; temporary protection; safety and site controls; permits; and coordination with the occupied facility and adjacent school. Alternate roof sections and unit-price work are included in the bid schedule. Amendment 002 adds an additive alternate for a complete lightning-protection system designed in accordance with NFPA 780 and applicable codes and standards; pricing is for evaluation and does not authorize installation. Solar-panel mounting brackets are not required, existing roof ladders remain, and the owner will not shut down mechanical equipment during roofing work. The contractor must furnish labor, materials, equipment, supervision, bonds, insurance, and related services, with substantial completion required within 120 calendar days after the Notice to Proceed. Bidders must provide three similar roof-project references, demonstrate relevant trade experience, and provide manufacturer authorization for the proposed roofing system.
