Description
Caroline County is soliciting bids for the complete roof replacement at the Caroline County Detention Center, also known as the Andrew Building. The work includes removing and disposing of existing slate and flat roofing down to the structural deck; inspecting the deck and submitting inspection reports; installing slate-roof components, copper drip edges, gutters, valleys, fascia and soffits; and installing tapered insulation, coverboard, a 60-mil TPO membrane, and related flashing for the flat roofs. The contractor is responsible for dumpsters, disposal, permits, safety measures, and coordination with the fully operational detention center. The specifications require a minimum 20-year parts warranty and a two-year contractor warranty for both roof systems. Bidders must attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting and obtain prior security clearance for employees entering the facility. The bid package requires a completed bid form and Bid/Proposal Affidavit, a bid security of at least 5% of the bid amount, references for three similar projects, applicable license information, and requested product literature. The selected contractor must provide a 100% performance bond at contract execution, while the contract template states that insurance certificates are due before execution rather than with the bid.
